About Team Kenya
Team Kenya is a charity that involves entire communities in Ndhiwa, western Kenya, in gender equality to tackle barriers that prevent young girls from accessing quality education.
Currently in Ndhiwa, only 50% of girls complete primary school and 62% of girls have experienced sexual violence or threats within school. Over 25% of the population are also HIV positive, with teenage girls most at risk due to a lack of education and generally accepted attitudes towards sexual abuse and the exploitation of girls.
Why Team Kenya?
Mount Cook is sponsoring their Marketing Officer, Victoria Cox, to climb Africa’s 2nd highest mountain in aid of the charity, Team Kenya.
Victoria will join an organised group in Nairobi, on Sunday 17th February, to begin a 4-day trek to Mount Kenya’s Point Lenana, at 4,985 metres. Before taking on this challenge, Victoria aims to raise £500 for Team Kenya, a charity which is committed to educating girls, empowering women and transforming communities in rural Kenya.
After completing the Mount Kenya trek, Victoria will have the opportunity to visit some of Team Kenya’s projects to see, first-hand, the positive impact your fundraising has had.
