  • Warm clothing: jumpers, thermal tops, casual t-shirts
  • A warm coat and a water-proof coat
  • Synthetic trousers (for walking) and casual jeans

Please take a look at our Group Leader pack for more information on required clothing and footwear.

Mount Cook provides complimentary bedding for all guests, but we do ask that you bring your own towel! If you do forget, towels are available to rent for a small fee from Reception.

We leave it up to parents and group leaders to decide whether their children should bring pocket money. We do have a small sovereign shop onsite which sells notepads, pencils, rubbers, lanyards and other small gifts. There is also a tuck shop selling bottled drinks and snacks in case you get peckish.

We think its important that we serve our guests nutritious, healthy food which will keep energy levels up throughout the whole day. Our breakfasts include cooked and continental options, toast, cereal, fruit juice, tea & coffee. Our packed-lunches contain a sandwich of your choice, crisps, a slice of cake, fruit and bottled water. Finally, our two-course evening meals can range from sausage and mash, to homemade vegetarian lasagne and jacket potatoes! You can read our sample menus here.

We can cater for almost any dietary requirement, from gluten and dairy free, to Halal. Just let us know in advance what requirements your party has!

We deliver all of our land based activities at a ratio of 1:12, but this can be increased to 1:15 in certain situations. Our water-based activities are delivered at a ratio of 1:8.

All of our staff have undergone a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, and are continually assessed by senior staff throughout their period of employment to ensure they meet our high standards.

We believe that everyone should have access to the outdoors and outdoor activities, regardless of ability. Our Centre offers two disabled access bedrooms with personal wet-rooms and some specialist equipment. The majority of our activities can also facilitate those with disabilities. Please let us know what your requirements are before when booking.

Most of our activities can be delivered in wet weather, and extra time will be assigned for your group to dry off at the end of the day. If the weather is too extreme and we simply can't be outdoors, we have a set of activities which can be delivered indoors as part of our wet weather plan.

We provide a range of evening activities, some which can be self-led by group leaders, and some which will require the assistance of a trained Mount Cook activity instructor. These include:

  • Campfire evening
  • Rocket-building
  • Night walks
  • Disco
  • Mount Cook quiz
  • Treasure Hunt

Please let us know if you would like to include evening activities when booking.

For any special events such as parties, celebrations or weddings, please contact our office team on: 01629 823 702. We highly recommend that you come and see our Centre, to get an idea for the space, facilities and external grounds!
